BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION BRIEF:

Rev. Dr. J. Keith Zimmerman, Superintendent

Vermilion River District

Illinois Great Rivers Conference

  

Dr. Zimmerman has served as Conference Superintendent since January 1, 2004 having been appointed to the Vermilion River District by Bishop Sharon Brown Christopher. 

 He and his wife, Bobbie, are the parents of two grown children, and the grandparents of a four year old grandson and a two year old granddaughter.  Bobbie is licensed by the state as a residential real estate agent. 

 Previously, Dr. Zimmerman served as pastor at Christ UMC, East Moline 2000-December 31, 2003, Mahomet 1988-2000, Moweaqua 1983-1988, Macomb: Wesley (associate pastor) 1976-1983, and Illinois City-Pine Bluff 1973-1976.   

 He has earned degrees from Bradley University (Bachelor of Science, 1970), Evangelical Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity, 1974), and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry, 1986).

 Ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church in 1975, he has twice served on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, including serving as vice chair 1998-2000, chair 2000-2002, and executive advisor 2002-2003.  During the 2005-2006 conference year, Dr. Zimmerman served as one of the co-chairs of the Cabinet of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference.
